Joints, Flexibility & Mobility

At ONE HEALTH, we place a strong emphasis on maintaining healthy joint function and muscular flexibility (within reason and specific to your needs). While many people focus on strength or endurance in their training, flexibility and mobility are just as important for preventing injury, supporting performance, and maintaining comfort in everyday activities.

Restricted movement in the joints or tightness in the muscles can limit how efficiently the body moves. Over time, these restrictions can contribute to pain, reduced performance, and a higher risk of injury – whether you’re playing sport, exercising recreationally, or simply going about your daily routine.

Why appropriate flexibility & mobility matter

Smooth, coordinated movement depends on both joint range of motion and muscle flexibility. When these are limited, it can affect:

  • Sporting performance and consistency
  • Posture and alignment
  • Movement efficiency
  • Risk of strain or overuse injuries

These principles apply across all sports and activities. A more flexible and mobile body can adapt better to different demands, perform movements more efficiently, and may recover more effectively after activity.

How we may be able to help

At ONE HEALTH, our practitioners use a range of hands-on treatment techniques to help improve flexibility, joint mobility, and movement patterns. As part of your assessment and care:

  • We examine not just the area of pain, but also related regions that may have contributed to the issue or been affected by it
  • We aim to identify factors that may have led to the injury, helping to guide recovery and reduce the risk of recurrence
  • We provide targeted exercises to maintain joint range of motion and muscle flexibility, and strengthening programs where required

Common injuries & conditions we manage

  • Ankle ligament sprains or tears
  • Achilles tendon injuries
  • Shoulder tendon injuries or impingement
  • Knee ligament or tendon injuries
  • Muscle strains or tears
  • Chronic hip, groin, or hamstring issues
  • Rehabilitation following knee, ankle, or shoulder surgery (including reconstruction or arthroscopy)
